John Piper on the Christian Life — The Glory of God and the Joy of Christ
A PERSONAL TRIBUTE. AN ENCOUNTER WITH GOD'S GLORY. A CALL TO PREACH.

The Calling Behind the Book
During my years as a student at Bethel University in Minnesota, from 1996 to 2000, I worshiped at Bethlehem Baptist Church and heard Pastor John Piper proclaim Jesus Christ week after week. God used that preaching ministry to awaken and deepen my own calling to preach the gospel. The experience shaped the kind of minister I hoped to become and the kind of Savior I longed to make known.
Dr. Piper was not my formal personal discipler. He was a busy pastor who regularly answered my questions after Wednesday evening teaching and monthly seminars. I listened eagerly, sometimes approached him with more questions than he might have expected, and was grateful for his ministry's generosity with books and biblical resources.
These are my own recollections and expressions of gratitude, not statements made or approved by John Piper.
The Glory of God and the Joy of Christ
JOHN PIPER on the Christian Life is an author-owned theological tribute and proposed book project. It examines themes that have marked Piper's public preaching and published writings: the supremacy of God, delight in the glory of Jesus Christ, the relationship of joy and obedience, grace in suffering, prayer, missions, and the endurance of faith.
The planned study will engage Piper's writings—including Desiring God, Future Grace, When I Don't Desire God, Don't Waste Your Life, Let the Nations Be Glad!, and Providence—while distinguishing the original author's argument from my own biblical analysis and application. It is not an official volume in any publisher's Christian Life series.
The Influence and the Calling
What I received through that ministry was not a ready-made literary voice or a borrowed platform. It was a renewed conviction that Jesus Christ is glorious, that Scripture is worthy of patient exposition, and that the gospel is good news for the nations. Over the years those convictions have helped shape my work as a teacher, coach, evangelist, author, and student of Christian history.
My separate book project Desiring Jesus: The Savior Is the Satisfier also engages the theme of satisfaction in Christ. It remains an independently developed manuscript, not an authorized sequel, endorsement, or collaboration.
Project Status
This John Piper tribute is in editorial development. Its green-and-ivory cover is a design concept, not a currently purchasable book. No release date, publisher contract, endorsement, foreword, or participation by Dr. Piper is claimed. Any publication will require careful review of quotations, sources, attribution, and cover rights.
